I ASKED OUT Y GUY TONIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's right. I walked in, he was on the treadmill. I went to the bike. After the bike, I went to the treadmill, he was on weights. while I was on the bike, I glanced over my shoulder and caught him looking at me. So while running, I decided tonight's the night. Was coming up with all things to say and then looked around and he was gone. I ran out to track but gone there too. Figured okay, so not meant to be tonight. Then I continued running and he came back. Knew then that it was meant to be since I had a second chance at it. So I quit running earlier than I had planned started walking to cool down and then he was doing situps on the floor. I stopped and waited on my treadmill until he was done with his set and walked over. I scared him, made him jump with my hi.
Then I started in with the most awkward asking out sentence ever. And his "Really?" response took me by surprise. I didn't expect him to say yes! Apparently, he thought I was married so that's why he never said anything. As Bob said, I hope he didn't think I was married to Bob (he's 5'6" if that!) After the yes, I introduced myself finally and said my name was Lindsay and he was Matt. Y GUY has a bloody name now!!!
Anyway, so I was shaking so bad, I confessed that I've been crushing on him since I first saw him at the Y (I don't even know when that was) and then asked so how do we do this; I never asked a guy out before. Do we exchange phone numbers, set the date now? He said exchange numbers would be good so I wrote down my name and number in my Running book (THANK YOU MELISSA!) and he wrote down his. As he handed it back to me, I said so then I'll talk to you later on in the week. He said for me to call him since he's never busy. I'm not sure what to make of that. But whatever.
So I'm calling him on Thursday to set up a date for Saturday. I don't want to do the typical dinner/movie date. I hate those. You eat in front of someone and then sit in silence for 2 hours. F.U.N. I want an outdoors date, like to do something, walking, going to a park, etc. Plus I have a race Sunday morning so I don't want it to go into the night, so I'm thinking late afternoon.
I still can't believe I asked him out. At Corn Fest last year, I talked to him. He came into the VIP tent and we talked for a bit. I was nervous and shaking even then. I was crushing on him for a while even at the time but only Bob knew about him. I don't know for sure when I first saw him. And I have only seen him outside the Y twice, once at Blood Bath and at Corn Fest. That's it.
Man, I'm so proud of myself!
