Marathon Memorabilia & Tattoos

Today's run was a 60 minute run. It was OK on a scale of Great to Awful. About 20 minutes into it, the middle of my back was hurting. Like I had to pop it or something. It would even hurt taking a deep breath. Not under my lungs but in my back! So at 25 minutes, I stopped to twist and WOW, did it EVER pop. But unfortunately the soreness never went away. I think the damage had been done by that time. I managed to stick with it until the 60 minutes. And of course as soon as I was done, I didn't feel the pain anymore. HA!

I did do the biking of the 4.4 miles last night. My thighs were shaking by the time I was done. Though I was going at like 16-19 mph nearly the entire time. Once I headed north, I got a head wind. Then when I headed east, same thing. Come to find out, the winds were coming from the NE at 14 mph, gusting up to 18 mph! Yay DeKalb winds. This bike ride tomorrow is gonna KILL MY thighs!

I do have two random things to share:

I FINALLY got a memento frame for my St. Louis Marathon. The certificate, picture, medal, map and bib. I can't believe I fit that all in there! They're also all taped using scotch tape to a flimsy piece of cardboard. But it seems to be staying in place. I haven't hung it up yet. Trying to figure out placement on my wall.

I also got a couple frame sometime ago for my first half and first marathon. Since they were both St. Jude, I wanted to get them something that matched. I have a picture already printed for the marathon, just need to take it out of the double frame that I have it in.

The other thing is that eventually I'm going to get a running tattoo. Specifically one of these or something similar that I haven't found yet.

I know, I know, all you nay-sayers out there about getting a tattoo in general. But listen, this isn't my first one. I have 8 total, they could be counted as just 5 but I have several in the same area at different times so I count them as separate. And I've been running since I was in high school with my college years off but I wanted to run then just didn't have the motivation. And no matter what I do, whether or not I finish my 50 marathons in 50 states goal or run a 30k race or even tackle a 100 mile, I will still run and run I will enjoy doing. So I want to get something that celebrates that I want to get off my ass unlike most people I know.

So now comes the hard part of where. I was thinking the side of my left foot. But no one would see that. This is one that I actually want people to see. Then I was thinking my outside left ankle but I was wanting to save that for something family orintated (if I ever get it) and I already have something on my outside right ankle.

I was at Daytona Beach, at the beginning of the month and in a Harley Davidson store of all places, I saw a guy wearing shorts that had a winged foot tattoo with, I think, a date underneath. I knew right away that he was a runner. I wanted to ask him about it. His was on either the side of his right calf. That was an interesting place. No matter what he was doing, as long as he was wearing shorts, people would see that and know.

I was reading Runner's World the other day and saw the story of the University of Texas guy and saw where his tattoo Long Horn logo was at. Directly under his running shorts on his right thigh so that they would just show when he was wearing them. Ryan Shay had the same thing on his thigh of his alma mater, Notre Dame. It would be kinda weird to get a winged foot on a thigh though I do like the idea of it showing when I have my running shorts on (just which ones since they all meet my thigh at different points).

So the calf might be the best place. But at the same time, I don't want it on my calf for the same reason why I don't want any on my arms. I love my arms & the way they look too much! Same with my calves. But it would be a great place! Even if I was out doing errands wearing shorts, people would see that tattoo and know that I'm a runner. I do not have any plans on getting anything underneath it like 26.2 or a date. Just the winged foot.

Decisions, decisions. That's why I'm going to sit on it for a while. Probably after this October marathon. Hell, maybe if I do horribly bad in this marathon, I'll call off running all together and then I won't even get it! :-)

Go! St. Louis Marathon professional photos

Here are the professional photos. I've never had so many of them before in a race. I thought it was cool that in the 13th mile of St. Jude I got one of me but this race so many more options! :-) You guys are going to have to help me pick which one of the finish line to buy. There's 2 views.

First though, remember my Karma of the 5k and how I ran past that couple with their hands held high?
But luckily they were able to still get one by themselves. :-)

And so now to the Marathon itself.

Looks like these are in Forest Park:

Again in Forest Park but more alone so it was on the way back.

This is nearing the finish. Notice how I'm without camera and water bottle??
I actually kinda like these, especially the second one. Also in the second one, you can see the outline of my cell phone in my bra.

Now for the Finish Line pictures. 2 pictures in 2 different views. I have a favourite but don't know if it's the one I should pick to put in a frame.

The 3rd one in this set is my favourite. The one from St. Jude is from the side, not the top, I like how my hair is all moving so it looks like I'm running. These photos were taken at different times because the first 2 I'm before the mat, the second 2 I'm after the mat.

Oh and as you can see the guy stayed behind me! :-)

Now the final photo (which I wish now I would have posed for)
You can see how drenched my shorts are!!

So there ya have it. That should be the *last* final post of the Go! St. Louis Marathon. Leave me a comment with which picture(s) I should buy. I'm not going to do the big frame thing like I'm thinking of with my first (even though now my first is my worst but it's still my first and no one forgets their first!!) but there's this option from runphotos.com: Medal Box with Picture. I'm sure I can find something like that at Michael's right?? I'm not good at crafty type stuff. That's why I'm totally jealous of Erin's awesome scrapbook of her races.

Charles in Charge of our pace and our miles.

If it wasn't for Charles, I'm sure that this race would have been a completely different story.

There's always going to be another mountain I'm always going to want to make it move Always going to be an uphill battle, Sometimes I'm gonna to have to lose, Ain't about how fast I get there, Ain't about what's waiting on the other side It's the climb --Miley Cyrus, "Climb"

Talking about a marathon mile by mile always confuses me. When talking about the first mile, am I talking about the 0.0-1.0 or once I see the Mile 1 maker? So to make things easier, Mile 1 is actually 0-1.0. Which makes Mile 2 1.0-2.0; Mile 15 14.0-15.0; Mile 17 is 16.0-17.0; Mile 20 19.0-20.0; Mile 25 is 24.0-25 and Mile 26 is 25-26.0. And a runner actually starts a 27th mile when running the .2 of the marathon.

And I know that these things can get kinda long. This one is unfortunately long (I have a somewhat good memory and I think every detail people would want to read) but I have tried to split it up by including pictures and videos.

I woke up at 5:45am and got out of bed at 6am. I immediately looked outside and saw the runners starting to park and walk to the start. Many of them were wearing shorts & garbage bags. I started to worry about the rain. But I got my bagel ready and dressed in the picture that I posted. I didn't have time to eat a bowl of oatmeal though. I also got a bottle of water and mixed a PowerBar powder in it. I sipped on that while we walked to the start, intending to hand it over to Brent. We left the hotel a little late.

Garbage bags

Mile 26 marker before the race

As I mentioned, I signed up for the 4:30 pace group. I had the bib to my back of my shirt. Charles was the pace leader. While walking to the start, it was misting/sprinkling so Brent lent me his jacket to keep me dry. When I found the 10 minute corral, I saw the sign for the 10:18/4:30 group. At that time, I chickened out on the pace bib and had Brent take it off. I was afraid of not being able to run in that time and then when people see that I was supposed to run that time they would point and laugh and say how stupid of this girl to think she could run that fast!

There's Charles

I did say "I love you" and kiss Brent goodbye. That was out of habit more than anything. He didn't say it back and didn't kiss me back either. That messed with my mind while walking to the middle of the start. I was so nervous and then that on top of it, I was nearly in tears! I worked my way as close as I could get to the sign. I was so far back. We started moving but that was just us moving up. That was when I realised that I still had the water bottle with me! Oh no I thought! How am I going to run with this?? "Well, this might come in handy since the water stops are every 2 miles, I won't need to stop." And I decided to give it a shot. Then we finally crossed the mat and I started my Garmin. I didn't notice the time it took us to cross but I figured it out at the Mile 1 timer.

I'm in the middle top portion of the pic. You can see my visor

I didn't start my iPod when we crossed. So many people around me I didn't need to. First mile I kept trying to get closer to Charles the pace leader. Ran past the Busch Stadium where the Cardinals play. I was tempted to yell out "Go Cubs Go!" but didn't want to get tripped up by some sore Cardinals fans as they just lost to the Cubs that day before! Around mile 1.5 there were a few huge puddles. But I manged to just skirt around them. Mile 2 was the first water stop, I didn't stop though because I had that bottle with me! And that's when I lost the pace group. The first water stop was quite crowded. I didn't see them until right after Mile 4 again.

Busch Stadium

We saw the front runners at that time on the other side of the street. Everyone was cheering them on. It got even louder from us girls when we saw the first girl with a group of 4 guys or so!

As we ran through the Budweiser plant, it smelled like beer. I heard so many mumblings from people around me commenting on it. I sent in my first Twitterfone tweet at 7:42 am stating that we were going through the Budweiser Plant and reached 3 miles in 31:01 and the third mile was 10:18. Right on target. Then we started to head back north but still through the Budweiser plant and suddenly there was a Budweiser Clydesdale!! Since I was sending in the Twitterfone tweet, I just barely got a picture of the horse.

Budweiser sign

Budweiser Clydesdale

Once we were out of the Budweiser area, we started to pass the walkers of the course. Nothing really eventful. I saw a sign that had my favourite slogan on it "Kick some assphalt!" Also passed a girl who's shirt said I have Mono and she's running. Yea, very stupid. We ran up our first hill which was only an overpass over Interstate 64.

Kick Assphalt

It's pretty stupid

Finally turned back west and onto Market Street. I knew I would see Brent at this point. I texted him saying that I was on the right. He sent a text back to say that he was on the left but he'll move over. And then I saw him! My 6th mile pace was a bit faster I think because of that. We saw some of the half marathoners sprinting towards the finish line at this time. It was about that time! I sent in a Twitterfone tweet at 8:22am around 6.43 miles in 1:05. I also started to take my first ClifBar Shot Bloks. I held the long skinny package in the same hand as the bottle and then the camera was in the other hand.

Brent took this picture

I think it was at this point that I zoned out. I don't remember from Mile 7 to 9 too well. I'm looking through my pictures and I have pictures of running under an underpass, which I do remember and there's a picture of a timer of 1:30 (minus the 9 minutes it took to cross the start makes it 1:21) which makes this Mile 8. it was us getting onto Forest Park Ave. I just went to the next photo and now I remember turning onto Vandeventer because there was a fire truck that was backing into the firehouse and they made us scoot over to give them room to maneuver it in.

From Market street to Forest Park Ave

Firetruck

Then at 9.5 miles or so, the half marathoners split off from us. Charles said OK guys, this is where you're on your own and he wished the half marathoners running with us good luck. Then it was just the marathoners. The group only got tighter after that. We kept cheering on Charles and others in the group was asking if we were on pace. And he was spot on the money most miles.

Half Marathoners split off

Brent texted me at the 8:55 am stating that he was in Forest Park right after the second relay station. HOLY SHIT! That surprised me! Was totally NOT expecting to see him again!! We entered Forest Park not soon after that. I sent in a Twitterfone tweet at 9:04am and said it was 10.55 miles in 1:44. We were making the first turn and then they were again pushing us to the left for the first marathoner was coming through! A pace car was in front and had a timer on top of it. Crazy!! I took a pic, his bib number was, would you believe it but 1! HA! We all cheered of course. At this point, I noticed that it stopped raining. I'm guessing it happened around Mile 10.

1st Marathoner (and eventual winner coming through)

Barnes Jewish Hospital

I also noticed that my camera was starting to fog up. The screen was getting foggy but I thought it was lens so I kept sticking my finger in there and try to wipe it clean from the water spots but it didn't help the pictures at all. I started to get worried about my camera at that point in time. I was having no other problem with any of my other electronics though. I had turned off the bezel on my Garmin so I could wipe away the water without messing it up.

My pace group

I saw Brent right after Mile 12 marker. That mile was again a fast one going below 10 minutes. It was so nice to see him. I told him that it's getting hot. The humidity was getting more noticeable now that the rain had stopped. Then came Mile 13. And a HUGE FREAKIN PUDDLE ACROSS THE STREET! We all had to run in the mud on the grass and lifting our legs over the curb WAS NOT FUN TO DO!!!! When your legs have been moving at a constant rate and in the same rotation over and over, suddenly have to lift them up and over something is HARD! I thought about running through the puddle but decided not to take the chance of more wetness in my shoes. Soon after that was the 1.31 time mat. Ran over the mat so they could record our time.

After Mile 12

This is the huge puddle

I knew what I was getting myself into leaving Forest Park. This is the part of the race that I was dreading. I was heading up the hill at Forsyth and I started to count my steps inbeween the parallel parking spaces just like I did at the St. Louis Half Marathon that I ran in November. It was the same number of foot falls, around 7! There were students handing out gels in front of Washington University. I grabbed a Raspberry Hammer Gel. I tried to take as much in as possible. They make me gag now. And it was this Mile 14 that became my slowest by far. It was also the first time I walked through a water stop. I did it so that I could fill up my bottle with a cup of water.

Along the long hill

Once I got to the top of that long gradual hill, around 14.5, I felt confident that I could do this! That I could finish in 4:30. Even though I was losing my pace group, I still felt like I could do this. I gave up doing Twitterfone at that point. The road started to do rolling hills. I wish that a camera could show exactly how bad this road is in terms of hills. I heard someone behind me say to her partner, just get to the top of this hill. I chimed in then there are 2 more up and downs. She said just take it one at a time. I responded back yea these are just speed bumps. I don't think she appreciated me having a negative outlook. It wasn't that I was negative just wanting to be real about it.

This video is from the day before after the 5k race when Brent & I were leaving Forest Park. Kinda gives you an idea.

At 15.5 miles, I started to have pain in my knee. It was not feeling good. I passed by a medical station and was thinking of stopping but decided against it. I knew what this feeling was. It was my Runner's Knee coming back and it was because of these hills aggravating it. But yet this mile was pretty fast at 10:23.

The rest of the mile was uneventful. I picked up the pace again and was back on track but was far away from my pace group. I turned on the iPod at this time. No one was really running with me any longer so I needed something to get me going. We turned onto Delmar. I thought this was going to be all downhill from here. Little did I know.

I turned the corner onto Delmar and decided that I needed to stop and stretch. My hamstring was starting to cramp up. So I got off onto the sidewalk and started to stretch my right hamstring and it felt soooooooo good. I also adjusted my knee band but not sure if that did anything at all. Starting soon after the mile marker for 16 (16.0-17.0) there was a small uphill blip and then it was downhill. Yay. But it all changed soon after.

I saw a start of a big hill on Delmar. On the corner of N and S Rd and Delmar. I looked at it and was in SHOCK! I knew I was in trouble but I also saw lots of people walking it so I decided that I better do the same. I am glad I did. I tried to speed walk but slowing down from a run to a walk and then to a fast walk just doesn't happen. It's almost easier to go back into a run because then your body doesn't go into shock or something from slowing down so soon. I took video of it and even said that I will start running again at the Mile marker for 17. This mile was 10:54.

Downhill part

Finally got to top of the hill and there was the sign for Mile Marker 17. I started jogging again. Around 17.8 to just after 18 there was another small hill in there and I was quite disappointed with myself that I didn't notice this on the elevation map sooner.

I still stopped though and had to take some Tylenol at the medical tent. They gave me 2 and I took it with my bottle. They also took down my number. I guess so that if something happens to me later on in the race then they would have a history of what I took. For the record, I don't think the Tylenol ever helped out. This mile (17.0-18.0) was my slowest out of the entire race at 12:29. Only because I stopped at the medical station and I stretched a bit more while there.

I finally reached downhill and then a flat part of the race. The next mile was 18.0-19.0 and was 11:10. From here on out there would be water stops at every mile.

At this point, I was starting to freak myself out. I knew that we had to run into Forest Park but just couldn't figure out where we were to enter at. I couldn't remember the map in my head. I just kept waiting and waiting for it to happen. I would look south to see if I could see Forest Park as we passed it. I reached a flat part of the race and I could feel my knee get a little better and I a bit faster. I also saw a few cool shopping areas on Delmar. Passed the 19th mile marker. Ran that in 10:41. Then the 20th mile marker. I sent in a Twitter stating that there was another hill but don't remember seeing that sign at all cause I know I would have thought just a 10k left and I never did. But did run that in 10:28. Eventually we did turn right and after another mile, (passed Mile Marker 21) in the park we went. Soon I knew I would see the 2X numbers! (Union, the road we took into Forest Park apparently was all downhill on the elevation map)

Pin-Up Bowl (sounds like a fun time!)

The Pageant

Mile Marker 19

Mile 21 timer clock

Forest Park again was pretty bad. Only because it started raining harder and the hills again. It was only one mile in there from 21.0-22.0 miles. I passed someone and I commented, I think it's starting to rain harder and he said yea, it picked up a little. I just shrugged and said not that it really matters at this point. I started to hear the gush gush in my shoes. In here I saw the someone being taken away on an ATV. And then I saw a guy head towards a tree very slowly, kneel behind a tree very gingerly and then reach up a leg of his shorts... I looked away at that point! I didn't know want to know what he was going to do! I thought he was gonna stretch that's why I was looking! There was another hill that I walked up around 21.4 mark. It was all good though. At that time, I put away my camera. The pictures were shite, I knew they were and I was afraid that it was going to just ruin my camera all together so I put it in my SPIBelt which was empty since I was carrying my second package of Shot Bloks by that time. In Forest Park some of the spectators were nice enough to yell my name (along with others) and when they did I shook my arm in the air! It was a pretty awesome pumped up feeling! I was still feeling pretty darn good!

Injured runner

I passed Mile Marker 22 on the way out of the park, the same way we came in. In this mile (22-23) I kinda got lost again. I don't remember much of it. I still managed to run this one at a pretty fast pace of 10:14. I think it was in this mile, as I was going under a road that I wanted to skip a song on the iPod but it wouldn't click over. I was thinking that the rain got to it but hey, at least it was still playing.

Mile marker 23 came and went. I knew I was closing in! 3 miles left! I looked down at my watch and saw that it said 4:05. I thought I could do this in the 4:30's! OMG! I'm going to do this! That mile 23.0-24.0 was 10:08. Oh yea!! Did those underpass roads again. Leaving from Forest Park Ave onto Market Ave. I was picking it up! I think I walked up a few of the underpass hills.

The people running towards me is coming from Chouteau onto Vandeventer
on the way to the finish

I passed 2 guys on one of these miles and had to run on the inside corner. I didn't see the puddle in time. I ran right through it and my shoe was SOAKED after that. I could hear the gush gush even more now. I screamed "Damnit!" Of course this would happen with just a few miles left.

I got to Mile 24 marker. Miles 24.0-25.0 was 10:42, I was little slower. I kicked it too much and too soon but there was also a hill. One long big gradual hill for a half mile. I couldn't believe it. I passed someone and I mumbled to them this is just cruel. I didn't get a response. Oh well. I was walking a bit. Didn't want to break down with this few to go! I tried having my second to last Shot Blok. I put it in my mouth and chewed it a few times but I was like eh, not really going to help so then I spit it out. A while later I decided to throw down my entire package. I tried to keep it until I saw a garbage but I didn't see one.

The last full mile was 25-26. There was yet another gradual hill that was on Market St. This is the underpass going from Forest Park Ave to Market St. I ran that one in 10:26. I picked it up again. Then I saw Jesse. He caught me first and was standing along the road and got my attention. I smiled and was pretty much incoherent at that time. I just smiled, wave feverently and said Hi about a dozen times. That was the start of the crying feeling. I was so happy to see him and that I was going to do this!

Further down on Market street, a little before Memorial Plaza I think, the course was narrowed down into a funnel and there were spectators all along it. I wish I had my camera out at this point. It was awesome. I took out my headphones a little before that since I wanted to hear the crowd and I'm glad I did too! Since I was running alone, not too many people around me, they were saying my name since it was printed on the bib. That again made me want to cry. I was just trying to go faster at this point. The last half of this mile was all downhill.

I decided that I didn't want to have my picture taken with a bottle in my hand so as I was crossing an intersection, I threw it down next to some other bottles. For some reason, that felt awesome, like I was cool or something. And now I was empty handed.

I passed a group of 3 women who had Team in Training jerseys on and were locked arm in arm. I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to pass them. They should have been on the right side more. Then I turned the corner onto 14th Street (north south road) and you run kiddie korner to the other side. In this area they had 2 professional photographers but I was passing a runner being walked by 2 other people so I don't think they got me since this guy was in the way.

Then at the very end. I saw the time, it was 4:43. I started kicking it. I was pushing, pushing pushing. I knew I was going to do it since I knew that I started 9 minutes after the gun went off. Then a guy comes running from behind. I beg him in my mind to stay on the left timer and I'll get the right timer. I knew that my Karma from the 5k the day before was going to get me! But I think he did stay on the left. We'll find out when they post the pictures. They did post them last night and he stayed away! Those will be in another separate post. I waited a few seconds after I crossed to stop my Garmin. I looked down and it said 4:35. OMG OMG OMG!

I saw Charles walking towards me. Not to me but just in that general direction so I went to him with my arms up and I put on on his shoulder and the other on his chest and I think I mumbled out the words "Thank you! Because of you I was able to do it!" and he smiled, laughed and nodded and patted me on the back and then I headed off to get my medal. I saw a woman in a poncho smiling and looking at me. She had a hand full of medals with one hand out towards me. I reached out to her and she just handed the medal. It would have felt better had she put it around my neck. And then I went to find Brent. He had texted me when I was at 24 saying that he was at the water station at the finish. So I found him and showed him my watch. He said "You did it!" I did it! Again, I wanted to cry!

I grabbed a Gatorade from the table (first one of the day) and headed off in a direction. They grabbed me and put me in a line to have a picture taken. I saw these at other marathons and decided to go ahead and have it done here too. Who knows if I'll buy it. I thought about posing with my pose from Chicago but I decided not to. I tried finding a mylar (space) blanket but I didn't see one. I was so cold!

Then the finish area. HORRIBLE. It was in a park on grass and with all the rain, it just turned into one big mud pit. My shoes which were just wet was now muddy and wet. And getting heavier by the minute. Grabbed a water bottle. The tables with the bananas were all out. They were only in boxes. No volunteers to distribute them. Some runner got back there and opened a box and got me a banana. Skipped the bagel table. Then on over to the table with bags of pretzels. Then to the Free Beer. Again, just a mess. I took a picture of my food goodies and some guy was making fun of me. Said that the food wasn't that great to take a picture of. I just stared at him like he was an idiot. Let me do what I want to do OK?

Grass or shall I say mud?

Finish Food

I sent a text to about 15 people that I knew wanted to know my outcome and I heard back from every single one of them within 15 minutes!

Then off to the hotel but then I realised that I didn't have the hotel key from Brent. So I had to dredge back through and go by the fence behind his table where he was cleaning up. He gave me the key and I walked my 27th mile back to the hotel. I was so cold and it was still raining. I passed by someone who had on the 4:30 pace bib on his back. I said that we ran in the same pace group (I remember running with him early on).

I had to walk up about 10 stairs to get into the hotel and I just remember standing there staring at the stairs, willing my feet up them. I got up there and into the hotel where a hotel lady handed me a towel right away. I nearly cried and hugged her!! Then as I was walking to the back of the hotel where the elevator would take me to my floor, another hotel guy came past me and asked if I wanted a laundry towel for my wet clothes. Standing at the elevator, I asked the 2 people who were also runners (but already done, showered and dressed) how many people do you think are going to get sick from today. She said plenty. (But as of today, I'm still not sick!)

Then up the elevator, talking to them all the way. I got inside the hotel room and it was so warm! I checked my computer and saw all the replies on my Twitter. And the I started updating it from there and I took a quick picture to send to Facebook & Twitter.

I was laughing so hard at how drenched I was. My shorts were hilarious. I started to peel items off. Uh-oh. I saw my Garmin readout numbers got very light. Like the battery was dying or something. I was just a bit worried. I tried click on the buttons to unlock the bezel. It wouldn't work. Oh shit. Well, let's just have it dry out. I took out my battery & SD card from my camera to let that dry out as well. My cell phone looked alright though! I took off an arm warmer and I found my first chafing mark. My feet were all pruney and my big toenail on my right foot looked weird. BUT I GOT NO BLISTERS!! In this rain that's amazing!

I got into the shower and found another chafing area. My cell phone left a mark on my chest. OUCH! I also found a few marks on my back from my heart rate monitor.

Brent came back and changed out of his soaking wet jeans and we got on our way. Brent was nice enough to go out to the car while I checked out. But then he waited up top for me to walk up there. I'm still not sure why he didn't come down sooner but eventually I called him and talked to him and he came down but I found out that my earpiece was muffling sounding. Guess it didn't come out unscathed after all!

Walking out of the hotel someone asked me how I did on the marathon. I told him I beat my previous time by 12 minutes and ran in my goal time. He said this was under harsh conditions and I added in with hills too. He said just think you could do with better weather! That got the wheels turning!

Brent and I ate at Noodles & Company. Yes I wore my medal. But I was limping after that car ride. Then back to his apartment where we slept for 2 hours! HA! Finally woke up and then ordered pizza and I had some of my special New Glarus Fruit Beer. Then we were in bed again by 10:17p. HA! Just a little tired.

Here's the deal with my Garmin stats. Unfortunately, even though my Garmin locked onto a satellite apparently, it wasn't a very strong signal. So for the first 6 miles it never followed my path but kept the lap information. I'm really disappointed that it doesn't show the elevation of that or the path. The elevation map only shows that I ran 19.34 miles when my Garmin totaled 26.45 miles and remember that's the LAST 19.34 miles, so add 7.11 miles onto each of those numbers below.

I was able to pull my Garmin stats off my Garmin eventually but the Garmin itself won't work. I tried charging it but the buttons won't work any longer so I can't turn off the GPS and it just shows the wrong time & date on the front of it. I've only had it for 6 months or so and it's still under warranty. Just need to find out if they'll exchange it with water damage. During my nap I dreamt that I put it in a baggie and then put it on my wrist. That's what I should have done. :-( Didn't think that a little rain would damage it that much though.

So below are my stats for the race.

And because in Bones in Motion only shows the 19 miles in the pace for some odd reason, here are the official Garmin stats.

I got a massage on Monday from my guy down there. He helped me out on my butt muscles mainly. Especially on my right knee. I figured out later that it wasn't Runner's Knee. But an IT Band issue since my pain was on the outside of the knee, not under the kneecap. But I walked out of the room with no limp and no pain. Even Brent noticed that when we met up for lunch before I left. I stopped at 3 rest stops along the way to stretch my legs on the way home. Then when I woke up on Tuesday morning, I got my limp back. Now finishing this up on Friday, I'm no longer limping and can walk up and down stairs but I'm still giving myself another week off before I try for any certain number of miles.

Congrats if you made it this far. Oh and by the way... Charles the pace leader? Yea, he finished in 4:30:18.

So there ya have it. Sorry for the longevity of this post, in length and the time it took for me to get it up but 26 miles are a lot of talk about! Tomorrow I'll post the official pictures. There are A TON of me!! :-D
