Confidence & problems with long runs

I laid out my April Marathon, the Go! St. Louis Marathon in Google Maps a few weeks ago. I also printed out the route and hung it in my office on my tack board, right in front of my nose.

The more I look at it & think about it, the more I lack the confidence of actually going through this thing. Well, at least the marathon. I may have to knock it down to the half marathon. That I know I can train for in 2.5 months. Yes, I only have all of February, all of March and half of April to get ready. Now do you see why I'm stressing about this?!

Yesterday, I looked at the Runner’s World schedule that I printed out. I’ve been avoiding it for fear of what I should be up to by now. This past Saturday, I was supposed to run 12 miles. Um, yea, I can barely get to half that. I’ve totally lost my training from last fall. I’m not talking that I gained weight (I still weigh the same). But it’s my lungs & muscles that just aren’t what they used to be.

And as great as it’s been for running with a group of people, they go 6 miles since no one is training for a Spring marathon, so I'm afraid I won't be getting together with them anymore and instead running on my own.

Since the YMCA won’t let me run for more than 30 minutes on the treadmill, their indoor track takes 10 laps to make 1 mile & I found out that Cardinal Fitness has no time limit, I called them up to see what they charge for a daily fee ($10). I might be spending my Saturday mornings there, on a treadmill, staring at the wall for 2 hours. Unfortunately, the ironic thing is that their monthly fee for individuals is $19.99 (plus a $20 sign-up cost) so in 2 Saturday's, I would spend their monthly fee.

But I just have to do this, at least until this weather breaks.

Last week, I skipped my step aerobics. This week I will be in the pool for 30 minutes. I need someone less impactful. "Phil" my Garmin won't work in the water but usually swimming has my heart rate soaring. Last time I swam, I could do 4 laps in a row. I might get to that, might not but it'll be fun! There's only one lane that's open so let's hope that not too many people are using it! The other lap pool is being taken by the Swim Team so I can't go in there.
